Event categories and format
This is a 2-in-1 event with the emphasis very much on social running and having fun, however, there is a competitive element for those who can't help themselves! The event is a lap event. Lap distance is 3.7km of fairly challenging trail running

The 24-hours event is a team relay in which teams of up to 7 runners (minimum 3) run the 3.7km lap starting at noon on Saturday until noon on Sunday, tallying the combined number of laps covered in that period of time. There are 3 team categories Open (any mix of genders, up to 7 members), Mixed (team includes 3 or more women), Biltong Boys/Girls (average age of team is 45 years or more)
A bonus lap will be awarded to all teams who complete more than 7 laps at night

The 6-hours solo event is a race and an individual challenge. It takes place over the same course as the 24-hour event, starting at 15h00 and finishing at 21h00. Each runner circuits the route continuously for the 6 hour period and tallies his/her total number of laps run

Rules & Regulations:
Please run the event with the following in mind:
Run safe: No-one needs to get hurt. It is a long race - don't risk not finishing or, worse yet, preventing someone else from finishing. Pass slower runners with care. Talk to each other and say "passing on your right/left". "Please" and "thank you" are also good words to use. Please select a reasonable and realistic moment to pass.
Race fair: In other words, no cheating. Would the racer next to you have a problem with what you may be doing? If in doubt ask yourself. Also think of where you are running. Stay on the course; DO NOT short-cut. Racing fair also means being polite. Discourteous and offensive behaviour could get you disqualified from the event
Race hard: Give it all you have without compromising the rules
Have fun: This rule needs no explanation. Bottom line, this is why we are here

General information and rules
All event categories will be an open format. In other words, there are no ability or age categories. Please keep this in mind when registering
No team members under the age of 10 will be allowed to participate in the event
All runners will have to sign the indemnity clause before 11:00 on Saturday 10 April. A parent/gaurdian has to sign indemnity for all runners under the age of 18
All the team captains are responsible for attending the pre-race captain's briefing at Saturday 11h00
Support is defined as the act of helping another teammate or runner by means of offering food, water and possibly medical assistance. Support on or off the course can be provided by anyone, teammates or not
Your race number must be displayed high on the front of your running vest. No-one will be allowed to fold away or stick other sponsor's names on his/her number
All runners will be allowed to wear their own branded running kit
Protests shall be made to the organiser (or time keepers) by the captain of each team in writing any time during the event or within 30 minutes of the final results posting
Quiet hours around the tents will be observed from 01h00 to 05h00
Each team shall provide adequate lighting for the runners
You may also equip yourself with a red flashing tail light or rear reflectors
Each runner on the course has to wear the team baton wrist/arm/ancle strap
It is recommended for teams to keep log of their own progress throughout the 24 hours in order to verify it against the log of the officials.
There are no individual lap requirements, however, if any of your teammates or a partner does not put in their share of laps, people will look at them funny (just kidding)
If a runner stops to assist another participant who is badly hurt, an average lap time will be calculated for that runner and the subsequent logged teammate will be allowed on the course at the designated time. The team being helped must verify the assistance
At 12h00 on Sunday the finish line will be closed. No laps completed after 12h00 will count towards the total lap tally of the team
No littering along the course will be tolerated by the organisers
The decision of the event officials and race directors will be final. Every effort will be made to keep the racing fair and safe
