10 km Mountain trail run
5 km Fun walk
Both routes start at Joos Bekker Recreation Resort, adjacent to the Wonderboom Nature Reserve. The Wonderboom Nature Reserve is situated in the northern part of Pretoria and straddles the Magaliesberg mountains. Best known for the 100-year-old wild fig tree (Ficus salicifolia), the reserve also has hiking trails, the ruins of the Wonderboom fort and Iron Age and Stone Age archaeological sites as well as a breeding pair of Black Eagles
The mountain trail run winds through the Wonderboom Nature Reserve and over the Magaliesberg with stunning views over Pretoria. Runners can expect a wide variety of surfaces, ranging from technical single tracks to level jeep tracks, grass, river crossings and cobblestone trails. Although only 10 km in distance it will be at test of stamina, strength and fitness as most of the route is on mountainous terrain with steep climbs and descents. The 5 km fun walk is mostly single track and jeep track winding along the foot of the Magaliesberg
